Fans, celebrities gather for the 12th annual Rhode Island Comic Con | ABC6

PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – Superheroes, sci-fi, and celebrities took over Providence this week for the 12th.th Annual Rhode Island Comic Con.
From Friday, November 1 to Sunday, November 3, cosplayers immersed themselves in their favorite games, movies, and television shows.
By the way, I love Providence! said Dean Norris, the actor who played Hank Schrader on Breaking Bad.
Norris told ABC6 it’s his first time in town and he’s looking forward to trying the restaurants in Federal Hill.
The annual convention takes place at the Amica Pavilion, the Convention Center and the Omni Hotel.
“Rick loves being at the RICC (Rhode Island Convention Center) Rhode Island Comic Con!” said Ian Cardoni, the voice actor of Rick on the adult show Rick and Morty.
“I would say Rhode Island is the best comedian,” said Harry Belden, the voice actor of Morty on Rick and Morty.
Omni Hotel Staff told ABC6, all 800 rooms were booked for the weekend, with reservations made months, or even a year, in advance.
Omni Hotel officials also said other hotels around the country are also on board, as people have booked their spots for the Ocean State’s pop culture center.
Jason, a cosplayer from Boston told ABC6 that he came to Rhode Island Comic Con, which he thinks has a better group of visitors than Boston’s Comic Con this year.
“We are able to meet people with similar interests. You meet a lot of cool people, whether it’s people walking around this convention, or certain celebrities,” he said.
Locals and tourists met famous people, equal to each place.
Guests included Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd from Back to the Future, David Arquette and Skeet Ulrich from Scream, Matthew Lewis from Harry Potter and William Shatner from Star Trek.
“In our business, we can’t have one. And at Comic Con, we shake hands and thank people for being fans,” said Steven Michael Quezada, who played Steven Gomez in Breaking Bad.
Raymond Cruz also added that he loves Providence, especially the charcoal-grilled pizza. Cruz is best known for playing Tuco Salamanca in Breaking Bad.
Along with familiar faces. and there were guests from behind the scenes of popular movies and shows.
“I have been here for a long time. I have come several times each year. We’re always working on one movie or another,” said Bill Diamond, Emmy Award-winning animator, producer and producer.
Diamond is known for directing the Little Shop of Horrors road trips, and most recently, designing and building the set for the slasher film, Terrifier 3.
Fans also got a chance to reconnect with their inner child.
“I spent my entire career on Blue’s Clues thinking about you, and now I’m going to meet you. It’s a surprise to me,” said Steve Burns, who played Steve on Blue’s Clues.
“We’re in a place where we’re connected to technology in different ways. I think that’s scary at times, but there’s a huge, wonderful opportunity for that. As long as it’s about connectivity,” Burns said. add.
The line to meet Steve came out of the Conference Center and into the hallway.
ABC6 spoke with Courtney Dalessio after she met him face-to-face.
“It’s nice to see him as a real person who has gone through hardships. Now he’s back and better than ever,” Dalessio said.
Some of the biggest names in Hollywood have said that Comic Con means a lot to them, too.
“It’s the best compliment,” said Mara Wilson, the actress who rose to fame as Matilda and Natalie Hillard in Mrs. Doubtfire.
“There’s nothing better than hearing people give you compliments and hugs all day long,” said Wilson.
The event may be over, but fans say the memories will last a lifetime.
